Sugaring

Body sugaring is an all-natural, gentle and highly effective method for removing unwanted body and facial hair. It is a technique that has been practiced for thousands of years by many cultures. It is believed to have originated in ancient Egypt.

The sugar paste is made up of three ingredients: sugar, water and lemon juice. It is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and safe for all skin types including the most sensitive. It’s even safe enough to eat!

Sugar paste is applied at luke-warm temperature and molded onto the skin with a gloved hand. The molding process allows the sugar to seep into the follicle and grab the hair from the root. It’s then “flicked” off the skin in the direction of hair growth extracting the hair by the root.

Here are a few reasons why sugaring is superior to other forms of hair removal:

  • 100% natural, hygienic, and safe
  • NO risk of burning
  • Removes hair in the natural direction of hair growth causing less pain, irritation, breakage and ingrown hairs
  • A great exfoliator; leaves skin silky, smooth and healthy
  • Removes hair as short as 1/16th of an inch. Less grow out needed and more time hairless!
  • Water soluble, no sticky mess – removes with water
  • Environmentally friendly and biodegradable
  • Causes hair to grow back thinner and more refined
  • Results can be seen after just a couple treatments
  • Organic raw sugar

Before

Cleanse the area to be sugared thoroughly before your appointment.

Do not exfoliate the day of your appointment.

Avoid putting any perfumes, creams, lotions or deodorants on the skin to be sugared 24 hours before treatment.

Do not sunbathe or use a tanning bed for 48 hours before a treatment.

Trim hair that is longer than ½ inch.

Wear cotton clothing to the appointment or bring along cotton clothing to change into after the service.

After Care

Avoid direct heat such as hot showers, tanning or exercise for 24 hours after a treatment.

Avoid wearing synthetic material and tight fitting clothing immediately after the treatment.

Avoid any creams, lotions or deodorants with artificial fragrances. Do not use products with hydroxy acids for at least 24-48 hours.

Exfoliate 4-5 times a week in the shower or bath. This will minimize the chance for ingrown hairs. This is especially important in the bikini and underarm area with an exfoliating body brush works the best. Exfoliating on a regular basis will make future sugaring treatment time faster and hair extraction easier!

Moisturize – Keep skin well moisturized using a penetrating oil such as Jojoba Oil or Hempseed Oil. This will help to prevent ingrown hairs.

If you work out a lot than get out of your workout clothes as soon as possible and shower to get the bacteria off your skin to prevent ingrowns.
